Tips for Camping with Kids

Writing a “how to” on camping with kids has never been on my bingo card, so if I can do it, you can too! We have been a camping family now for almost 10 years, and while our camping jam includes the RV, there are other ways to enjoy nature with your kids, too.

No matter how, in a tent or glamping, families can have fun in the great outdoors. Texas offers a perfect landscape with kid-friendly activities that are easy, fun, and tire out those kids in no time.

Practice your Trip

Set up the RV or even a tent in your backyard so you can get a feel for what works and what doesn’t. Or, take it a step further and go camping with a seasoned camping family to see what must-have items are needed for a fun, kid-friendly camping trip. It does take planning and mistakes along the way, but the kids will have memories for years to come.

Rent an RV

There are many places that will set up an RV on site. You can get a feel for what works for your family unit and learn about the ways of RV camping. You can also look at sites such as RV Share that allow you to rent one so you can find that perfect fit.

Pack light

Kids do not need much when camping. Some essentials include water shoes, fishing poles, bikes, and bathing suits. Let the great outdoors be their biggest toy yet – Texas has great places for exploring and discovering new gems.

Make the Memories

Texas is the perfect camping destination for any first timer including state parks where rangers can assist you in finding the beauty of where you’re camping with kids. Also, many other camping sites have stores on hand for any forgotten items and advice on the camping.

For my crew, we have loved finding places that will forever create memories for us. Some places we have been to more than once, and they have become a staple in our family plans. Check out these great spots and see what they offer – from tent camping to glamping, too!
