3 Reasons to Join Cub Scouts Today!

We are proud to partner with Boy Scouts of America to share with Houston Moms the benefits of joining Cub Scouts.

After a long hot summer, fall has finally arrived in Houston! This season means school is back in full swing and kids are signing up for fall activities. When choosing how their kids will spend the hours after school and on weekends, parents have a lot of factors to consider. While activities should be fun for kids, it’s also important to consider the skills they will learn that will impact their futures in positive ways. In addition to academic learning, part of a child’s day should be spent cultivating friendships, fostering leadership and teamwork, and building character. That’s why your kids should join Cub Scouts: the ideal activity for both boys and girls.

Friendship

Kids who sign up for Cub Scouts are assigned to a Den, which is a group of children around the same age and who many times attend the same school. This grouping aids in children developing friendships with other kids they are in close proximity with on a regular basis. By giving them structured activities and time to socialize, kids form close bonds and shared memories.

Leadership and Teamwork

We want them to be influential leaders, but also be able and willing to work together with peers to achieve a common goal. By participating in Cub Scouts, kids have ample opportunities to practice both skills with purposeful activities. Cub Scouts plan camping trips and other outdoor activities, games, and races, and have opportunities to attend special events and service projects.

Character

Camping trips teach kids to respect and care for their environment, games and competitions allow Den members to practice sportsmanship and good citizenship, and service projects show kids to focus on the home and neighborhood. They help Scouts strengthen connections to their local communities, which in turn supports their growth and development.
