I am a lover of bluebonnet season in Texas, rainy afternoons spent snuggled on the couch, and all things chocolate. Those sweet belly laughs that only a baby can make – they make me smile. No matter what kind of mood I am in. I love planning parties…especially when balloons and themed cupcakes are involved. I cannot remember the last time I ate a warm meal. Or one that I did not have to share. Or one that I picked out entirely on my own. {Mac’n’cheese, anyone?} I have the theme song to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse memorized, complete with Goofy’s laughs and Minnie’s giggles. I love picking out clothes for the day. But not when they are my own. I never thought I could smile as much or dream as big or love as deeply as I do right now. Hi, my name is Kelly…and I am a mom.

Before I became a mom, this answer would have been oh-so-easy. The nightlife in Houston was my most favorite thing. I loved it, and I loved all of the hip new places that were always popping up around me. But after becoming a mom several years ago, that all has changed. I have traded in my little black dress for jeans and a cotton shirt, and my outings take place during daylight hours instead of starting at sunset. And now, I see our city in a whole new light…the sunlight, I suppose. And the absolute best thing about Houston has to be its sense of community. I love that I can talk to moms when I am out and about and become fast friends over a snack at the park or while standing in line at the museum. I love that everyone is so friendly. So welcoming. So kind. I love that I live in one of the biggest cities in the country, but I still manage to see a familiar face nearly everywhere I go. I love that Houston is my home, and I am so proud to be called a Houstonian.

Hayes – Boy. 2 and a half. And the funniest little guy you will ever meet. His vocabulary is exploding right now, and he truly does say the darnedest things. He is obsessed with monster trucks. He creates them out of his play-dough. His blocks. His lunch. His start to life was a rocky one, and a story that I will soon share with you all. However, you would never know it by looking at him now. He is so incredibly cute with his short blonde locks and his bright blue eyes. Who cares if he is missing a belly button. All those are good for is collecting lint anyways. He is my prince charming and my sunshine when skies are grey. Oh, how I love that little boy.
Hadley – Girl. 4 months. And the chubbiest, happiest baby you will ever meet. She is always smiling and giggling. Except when she gets hungry…or when a flying monster truck hits her in the head. She has been the easiest baby so far – nursing like a champ from the very beginning and sleeping through the night since she was two weeks old. Two weeks! Can you believe it? {I should probably go find some wood to knock on now.} Every, single day is like a new glimpse into the little girl that she is going to be, and I am so overjoyed with who she is becoming. She is my pretty, pretty princess and my heart and soul. Oh, how I love that little girl.
