Memorial Day is a special holiday. We honor those who have fallen in service of our country making it a solemn occasion, but it also marks the unofficial beginning of summer. {I don’t think we are ready!!} Read a little bit of the history of Memorial Day here for some interesting facts.

Memorial Day Events In & Around Houston
- The Houston National Cemetery holds a Memorial Day Ceremony each year. If you’re looking for something meaningful to honor those lost, this is it.
- Sugar Land is also hosting a Memorial Day ceremony and tribute.
- Dominica Houston will be hosting its 23rd Annual Memorial Day Picnic.
- Take your kids out to the ball game! The Astros are home all weekend with a game each day, plus family friendly activities around each game.
- It’s the perfect time to hit up your local park.
- Levy Park is hosting The Houston Museum of Natural Science for a free Dino Discovery experience
- Visit The Woodlands Waterway for their evening of music featuring Fidelity Maxx, a funky dance band.
- Discovery Green has bunch of stuff to do this weekend including Tai Chi, different Workshops that change monthly and Kayak and Boat Racing.
- Miller Outdoor is always a good choice for free family fun, and this weekend they will be hosting a Dancin’ in the Streets Motown & More Revue.
- Cool off at the Museum of Fine Arts with their Sunday Family Zone activities. The Vincent Van Gogh exhibit is still there with an entire room of kid approved exhibits! Your kids can touch, turn, color and be on camera.
- Stop by the Humble Market for an afternoon of food, music, vendors and family fun.
