6 Fun Things to Do with Teens in Houston

I am going to tell you something very few people ever say…Teenagers are fun! Sure, raising them comes with challenges, but watching them grow is rewarding. And spending time with them is even better!

One thing I have learned as I raise my tiny humans to taller-than-me humans is that what they need and want the most is me. I know some days they may not seem to want anybody. They may not show their affection and may think I am annoying. Yes, I am the rule enforcer, the expectation setter, and the mom. Yet, they still want my time and my attention.

If you are intentional about making time for your teenagers, they’ll want to make time for you. If you practice presence, put down your phone, and be available to them to talk, these growing up years can be the best years full of good times and definitely not as horrible as some would have them be. Spend time with your teens and go out and have lots of fun because it makes life all the more fun too. Our city has no shortage of fun things to do with teens in Houston, and we’ve got some fun ideas for you and your cool kid.

6 Fun Things to do with Teens in Houston

Shopping Around Town

Of course, we have the malls – like The Woodlands and Memorial City – but, what about the other unique areas around our town? Check out cool spots like Rice Village, The Heights, and even City Centre. These spots can make for a fun day trip with unique boutiques and good eats, too.

Checking Out Houston Murals

We live an artsy city, with numerous murals that are Instragram-worthy. Spend your day driving around and snapping some photos with your teen. You will find so many options that are memory-makers. Your best options are near downtown and the Heights area – all the color you need in a day with your teen.

Finding Creativity at Meow Wolf

Check out this creative space where your teen can explore cool rooms with interactive games along with treats and eats. There are numerous artists on staff to show off a range of art and media. You can choose your own adventure and create your own experience. Head to Meow Wolf for the exhibits and make some memories with your kids!

Swinging Away at Top Golf

A favorite activity for teens is swinging their clubs at Top Golf. Houston has three locations – Katy, Spring, and Webster. You can plan your teen’s birthday party here or make it a family outing. The food is good, and the fun is even better! You can bring your own clubs or borrow some of theirs. Make it a friendly competition or just go and do your best. All levels welcome!

Cidercade is fun for the whole family, but it is definitely a place where your teen will thrive. Show them your old school skills with arcade games that date back to your childhood. With over 275 retro arcade games, you won’t waste a minute of your time at this downtown location. Stick around for pizza and a long list of beverages that will make it a great time for the whole family.

Watching a Game at Minute Maid

With baseball season around the corner, you can go watch the hometown team during their 2025 season. You can see a weekend game or try a Tuesday when hot dogs are just $1! Make sure you get to the game early and hit up the team store or check out batting practice. Always a fun time with our ‘Stros.

Astros game

Spending time with my teenager brings so much fun and youth to my life. I have loved this season more than I could have ever imagined. Embrace it, embrace them because mama’s I promise, it only gets better!
