8 Fun and Easy Halloween Treats and Snacks
Candy Corn Treat Bags
With just three ingredients, this snack could not be any simpler to put together. I used cone treat bags, but if you don’t have any on hand, the same effect can be achieved by cutting the closure off of a large ziplock bag. Then simply layer yogurt covered raisins {or white chocolate chips}, goldfish and popcorn in the bag, and voila! Candy corn treat bags. This is definitely my go-to when my sons’ schools call for classroom snacks because it’s inexpensive, decently healthy, and easy to make multiples.
Spooky Oreo Pops
This treat is slightly more time intensive than the previous one, but still fairly simple and packs a punch. For this delicious dessert, I purchased a pack of lollipop sticks off Amazon and used them to turn Oreos into cookie pops. Melt white chocolate to dip the Oreos into and use black icing to draw on the eyes, nose and mouth. Pro tip:: For the mouth, I had the best luck drawing one long line in icing and then using a toothpick to make the the teeth.

Mummy Krispies
Okay, so over the years I’ve sort of become known for my Rice Krispies. I make them for nearly every holiday, and my friends have come to expect {and demand} them at each gathering. And while sure, I might enjoy having my name attached to the fabulous lemon meringue pie my mother bakes every Christmas that takes twenty minutes of solid stirring to make, I can’t say I mind that my signature dish is something so dang easy to whip up. For these cute little mummies, I made a large batch of Rice Krispie Treats and then cut them into rectangles. Pro Tip:: Let them sit for at least an hour before inserting the popsicle sticks or the whole thing will fall part when you lift it. Then heat up white chocolate, put it in a piping bag or ziplock with a hole cut in one of the corners and drizzle it across the Rice Krispies for the mummy’s bandages. Add a couple of candy eyeballs and then take a well deserved Mom break.
Halloween Peep S’mores
I’ll admit I’m not a huge Peeps fan. They’re like the Mean Girls of marshmallows — pretty on the outside but gross once you get to know them. Still, my kids get a huge kick out of them every Easter and when I saw these ridiculously cute Halloween Peeps, I couldn’t resist purchasing all the different shapes. I figured roasting them would make them marginally more palatable, so we opted to make some Spooky S’mores. Perfect for the brisk, 80 degree autumn nights, am I right?
Winifred’s Brownie Boooooks
Every year my best friend and I love to do a big Hocus Pocus movie night complete with cocktails and desserts. Last year I made Winifred Sanderson’s famed book out of fudge brownies {that I bought from the store, shhhhh}, some black icing and candy eyeballs. They were devilishly delicious and the hit of the night!
Ghost Bananas, Pumpkin Oranges and Spider Apples
Okay, now if your sweet little angels have turned into hellacious sugar monsters and you’re looking for some Halloween munchies that don’t involve candy, I like to fall back on the very simple solution of putting eyes on healthy snacks. Stick some chocolate chips into half a banana, and boom! Ghost snacks. Slap some peanut butter in between two apple slices and add a couple of pretzels legs, and what have you got? Creepy crawly apple spiders. And one little green M&M placed on top of a peeled orange makes for a cute and healthy mini pumpkin. And added bonus, my kids are ten times more likely to eat their nutritious snacks if they’re spooky themed. Mom win.
Halloween Popcorn Monster Mix
Last but not least, the easiest of treats for the days when I want to be spooky and festive but my tired zombie brain simply cannot handle one more creative thing. Pop a bag of microwave popcorn, toss in some Halloween M&Ms or sprinkles and call it Monster Mix. My kids love and will run off to eat while watching Halloween Mickey and Paw Patrol episodes, giving me a chance to finally finish that cup of coffee I’ve already microwaved at least three times.
Here’s hoping these deliciously spooky Halloween treats add a little fun to your October celebrations without driving you vampire bat-crap crazy. Because let’s be honest, who really has the time and patience to make candy apples or spun sugar spider webs from scratch, am I right? Happy haunting!
