It’s 4th of July – America’s birthday! What a joyous time to unplug and celebrate with the ones you love most. And guess what? This long weekend, all of us here at Houston Moms Blog will be doing just that! We won’t be posting any new content, and our social media accounts are going to be a little quieter. But rest assured, we will be back in full swing come Monday with some awesome posts you won’t want to miss!
In the meantime, we are going to be soaking up some family time by popping fireworks with our kiddos and drinking cold ones with our hubbies. {Just not at the same time – because that could get dangerous!} But before we go, we want to leave you with a few fun ideas to make sure that this long, holiday weekend is an absolute BANG for you and your family too…
- Still searching for something fun to do this 4th of July? Check out Amy’s AMAZING list of of 25+ festivals and celebrations in and around Houston!
- Or if you’re just hanging out at home, be sure to try some of Amy’s simple patriotic cooking and craft ideas or Lauren’s 4th of July on the fly suggestions. {FYI :: Both of those links are packed full of fun and EASY activities and recipes – and you probably have most of the supplies and ingredients at home!!!}
- Not sure about you, but to me – nothing says holiday weekend like an ice cold adult beverage! If you have yet to try it out, my perfect white wine sangria recipe would be absolutely ideal on these hot summer days. {Meagan even suggested using blueberries and strawberries to make it nice and festive this weekend – how fun is that?!?} And Andrea’s margarita recipe is so easy – yet so, so good too!
- Have company in town…or just feel like whipping up some deliciousness for you and the fam? Try Tiffanie’s summer salad recipe or Jenn’s healthy wings. Both of those have been added to my weekend meal plans, and I am sooo looking forward to it!
- Or if you want to get the kiddos in the kitchen with you, check out Jessica and Sarah’s homemade popsicle recipes or even Jana’s summer smoothie recipes! {Both links have TONS of different flavor combinations and are such a great way to pack some fruit and veggies in after a junk filled holiday!}
- Be sure to keep the good times rolling through Saturday and Sunday too! It’s the perfect time to check some of those items off Becky’s UNBELIEVABLE summer bucket list or hit up one or two of the splash pads Bre recommended!
- And if you’re hitting the road and heading to the Alamo City {…or even just passing through!}, don’t forget to check out my guide to traveling San Antonio. It’s pretty great, if I do say so myself!
Okay, so have you checked out the links above and come up with a game plan for the weekend yet? Great! Time to put away those computers and tablets and celebrate the 4th of July. We will see you back on Monday, mamas! And until then, I’ll be spending every moment of this sweet summer weekend with these two…
