A Mom’s Guide to Spring Break in Houston

We are thankful for Dewberry Farm for sponsoring this content so that Houston moms can enjoy a fun-filled Spring Break with their families.

Updated March 2026

Spring Break is almost here, and if you’re already wondering how to fill all those wide-open days without hearing “I’m bored” on repeat, you’re not alone. The good news? We live in a city that absolutely shows up when it comes to family fun. From hands-on science and creative workshops to big outdoor adventures and can’t-miss events, Houston makes it surprisingly easy to build a week your kids will actually remember.

Before we dive in, a huge thank you to our Spring Break Guide sponsor, Dewberry Farm. If you’re looking for a full day that checks every box, their annual Spring Fest is a solid yes. Think Easter Bunny photos, FREE daily egg hunts, springtime photo ops, more than 40 attractions, pony rides, roller coasters, candy cannon blasts twice a day and all the seasonal treats your crew can handle, including those famous Easter funnel cakes. It’s the kind of place where kids can run, laugh and stay busy for hours while you soak up a little sunshine and call it a win.

And if you hit midweek and hear the inevitable “There’s nothing to do,” don’t forget that Houston’s museums and experiences are always there for you. While this guide highlights special Spring Break events, the greater Houston area is packed with year-round spots that are just as magical on a random Tuesday afternoon. From immersive art and science to history and hands-on discovery, there’s no shortage of places to wander and explore. If you need a backup plan (or three), check out our full roundup of Houston museums and experiences for even more inspiration.

Dewberry Farm Spring Fest

March 7 – April 26

If your kids need room to run and you need a full day that wears them out in the best possible way, Spring Fest at Dewberry Farm is a solid yes. Think Easter Bunny photos, daily egg hunts, a candy cannon that literally blasts sweets into the air and more than 40 rides and attractions to keep everyone busy. There are animals to pet, seasonal treats to try and plenty of space to spread out, which matters during spring break crowds. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for hours without hearing “I’m bored” every five minutes. Pack sunscreen, rally your crew and make a day of it.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

March 2 – 22

If you want big Texas energy, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo delivers every single time. Between the carnival rides, fried everything, livestock shows and mutton bustin’, there’s something for toddlers, teens and everyone in between. You can spend the morning meeting animals, the afternoon riding rides and the evening singing along at a concert inside NRG Stadium. It’s loud, it’s crowded and it’s a whole production, so go in with a loose plan and comfortable shoes. Spring break is the perfect excuse to finally check it off your list or go back for round two.

Mythical Realms at Houston Zoo

March 6 – Sept. 7

If your kids love a little magic mixed with their animal adventures, the Houston Zoo’s new Mythical Realms event is going to feel extra special this spring break. Alongside the animals you already know and love, you’ll find larger-than-life mythical creature displays that bring a whole new layer of wonder to the zoo experience. It’s part zoo day, part fantasy adventure and a great way to make a familiar outing feel brand new. Plan ahead and give yourself time to explore both the real and the legendary. This one has “core memory” potential written all over it.

Rooftop Rodeo at POST Houston

Feb. 20 – March 29

It’s definitely geared toward older kids and adults, so use your judgment before bringing littles.
