Spring break is nearly here… again! How does it seem to creep up on us every year?! Well, maybe you’re not like me and you’ve had your plans in place for months but just in case, I’ve put together a schedule of free or inexpensive Lake Houston area Spring Break activities that will keep your family busy without spending a bundle.
Monday | March 13
Spring Break Out @ Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center
Monday-Friday during Humble ISD Spring Break
Free admission, registration required
Exciting nature-based activities geared towards school-aged children; includes opportunities to learn about snakes, alligators, local fauna, and terrarium building!
School Age STEAM @ the Kingwood Branch Library,
4-5PM
Free admission
Join the children’s department staff to make your own kaleidoscope! Best enjoyed by children ages 5-12.
Tuesday | March 14
Minecraft Build Party @ Octavia Fields Branch Library
2-4PM
Free admission
Join other families for 2 hours of open Minecraft play in the library’s computer lab.
80s/90s Family Skate Night @Humble Family Skate Center
6-8PM
$5 admission, $2 skate rental
Spin your wheels to classic jams as you race around the rink as a family.
Wednesday | March 15
Open Wednesday-Sunday, hours vary
Free Admission
Local, state and Humble ISD history, as well as, farming/ranching and transportation artifacts presented free of charge!
Stop by before or after your museum visit for a delicious breakfast or lunch!
Thursday | March 16
8AM to 5PM
Free admission
Enjoy a self-guided tour of the 60-acre property that boasts gardens of bamboo, color displays, daylilies, endangered species, ferns, gingers, herbs, tropicals and more.
Every Thursday, 2-6PM, Town Center Park
The market continues to grow, offering grass fed beef and chicken, fresh produce, local honey, yard raised eggs, homemade salsa, pickles and jellies, Indian food and baked goods.
Friday | March 17
Open play 11AM to 9PM on Fridays, 11AM to 8PM Monday-Thursday
Shake your sillies out on the giant inflatables before heading into the attached arcade to shoot hoops or battle aliens.
Family Movie Time @ Octavia Fields Branch Library
Pixar’s Brave, 2-4PM
Free admission
Bring your own pillows, blankets and snacks to this family-friendly movie event!
Saturday | March 18
Kids Art + Play @ One Acre Farm
9-10:30AM
$12 {0-3 years}, $10 for older siblings, parents and grands always free
This fun little farm packs a punch with a mud kitchen, a kids’ garden, a balance trail, a rock pit… not to mention ducks, rabbits, chickens, turkeys, goats, potbelly pigs and horses!
Discovery Time with Miss Christine
Atascocita Library, 2:30-3:30PM
Registration required
Enjoy a variety of stories, sing-alongs, and rhymes, as well as an art project or hands-on activity at the end of the program.
