These Items May Help With Your New Year’s Resolutions

Items to Help Keep 2024 New Year's Resolutions

It’s January, which means I’m still trying to actually stick to my New Year’s resolutions. Come February, all bets are off.

But if you made any resolutions with the hope to improve your life (like I did) then you may need help (like I do). Here are a few items that we at Houston Moms think can assist you with keeping your 2024 New Year’s resolutions (maybe even until December!).

Resolution 1: Hydrate Yourself

Sure, a Stanley or a motivational water bottle might help you achieve a resolution to stay hydrated in 2024. But if you’ve already tried those options, here are a few more items to consider.

I’m a water snob who prefers perfectly filtered water rather than out of a tap. This Brita Insulated Filtered Water Bottle with Straw makes it so that you can refill your water bottle anywhere, without worrying about the taste.

For those who don’t want to lug a water bottle around everywhere, consider a collapsible option! This one by Vapur comes with a carabiner so it can be clipped onto a diaper bag, or you can store it in a purse or belt bag.

If you’re a phone addict like me or BFFs with Alexa, then consider this smart water bottle which tracks your water usage with bluetooth and glows to remind you to sip.

Resolution 2: Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Listen, I am always tired, so I’m probably not the best person to give you sleeping advice. But we’ve rounded up a few ideas our team. Here are our recommendations so you can sleep like the baby that’s been interrupting your sleep:

This Mavogel mask has more than 80,000 reviews and a 4.4 star rating!

This sleep mask was designed for side-sleepers, but it is more than just that— it has microbead pods that provide gentle pressure and doesn’t require any Velcro or straps to stay on. It can also be placed in the freezer to aid in headache relief.

Invest in room darkening curtains like these to keep your bedroom dark and cozy at any hour.

Resolution 3: Finally Get Organized

My personal life goal is to always be organized. For those of you who want to conquer all the stuff and things you have shoved in cabinets, closets and drawers for your New Year’s resolution this year— I got you.

I use these plastic drawer organizers in my bathroom, junk drawer and even the fridge. You can mix and match the different shapes to meet your needs and whatever drawer you’re organizing.

All those water bottles you now own to keep your hydration resolution need a place to live. This water bottle organizer is an easy way to keep your cabinet or countertop from becoming too cluttered. There are all different shapes and types of water bottle organizers so you’re sure to find one that fits your storage wants.

There is nothing you can’t do with a Lazy Susan. I like this adjustable YouCopia Crazy Susan. It holds my spices in the pantry and my makeup in the bathroom.

Resolution 5: Improve Your Mental Health

There is nothing more important than your mental health and I hope it’s everyone’s resolution to improve theirs in 2024. Nothing can replace speaking with a professional, such as a therapist or a psychiatrist. If you are searching for someone to help, then I recommend using Psychology Today to find a licensed specialist. The website can be sorted according to what insurance providers accept, what topics they specialize in and if they provide in-person or virtual visits.

In addition to finding a therapist, here are a few other recommendations for improving your mental health this year:

I’ve found a weighted blanket to be very helpful when I’m stressed or having difficulty sleeping. Experts suggest buying a blanket that is 10 percent of your body weight (i.e. a 18 pound blanket for someone who weighs 180 pounds).

Writing in a journal is also essential when you are trying to process your thoughts or understand yourself better. A plain journal is always handy, I like to journals that are easy to open and write in like this Paperage Lined Journal. If you want something to help guide your process, this one may be a better fit.

If you are looking for books to help, my therapist suggested this one about the neuroscience of anxiety! I’d also recommend this book for boundary setting and this one for a deep dive into trauma and healing.

No matter what New Year’s resolutions you have set for 2024, I hope you are gentle with yourself, whether you’re able to keep those resolutions or not. Every day is an opportunity to change our life, to try again— not just when the calendar on the wall says 01/01.
