2026 New Years Resolutions with Your Houston Moms Contributors!

Happy New Year Houston! 2026 is finally here and with it an opportunity for new beginnings, fresh starts, and yes, resolutions! Have you kept your resolution from last year? Do you remember your resolution from last year? If you’re like most people, you had vowed to lose weight or be healthier. Or perhaps 2025 was all about saving money. Personally I’m still working on last year’s resolution to get my kids to eat with utensils – my 6-year-old might eat spaghetti with a fork now, but he was definitely shoveling mashed potatoes into his mouth with his fingers at Christmas dinner.

Fork and spoon aside, 2025 was a great year for me! My little sourdough business has grown considerably with many regular customers and lots of local markets. If any of you out there are thinking about starting your own business in the new year, here is some motivation. And while I intend to keep up the steady bake schedule, for 2026 I’m resolving to restore some balance. Between running my own small business and running my kids’ PTO, I’ve had less and less time to actually spend with the littles. This year I’m making a resolution to slow down on the non-family commitments so that I can be present with my kids more often.

My simple resolution is, ‘Finish what I start’. – Tiffany Harris

I’ve spent most of my life chasing after the next achievement. My plan for 2026 is to slow down, live in the moment, and enjoy things as they are now. The future comes fast enough. – Julie Lu

I’m going to focus on family wellness in 2026. The last couple of years have been difficult for us, so 2026 is a rebuilding year. – Michelle Meinholz

In 2026, I want to learn how to trust again. Trust that I know myself. Trust that whatever hard may come, that it’s going to work out. Trust that God has me, first and foremost. He has never failed, nor foresaken me. I see a lot more journaling in 2026 and really intentional therapy appointments. And I am going to entrust these precious 15 year olds that I have the privilege to raise that they are going to land right side up, even when they falter. – Megan Clanahan

My resolution is to have no resolutions! – Brandi Smith

I’m going to go all in with taking care of my mental health and dismissing the things and the people who aren’t supportive of that. Hoping that with this focus, I’ll learn to communicate better. – Kim Reed

My goal: To be more present with my family because time seems to go faster and faster every year. More concrete goals- I want to increase my running distance and read 36 fiction books. – Tiffany Wojcicki

Brienne Reverendo
Brienne was born and raised in NJ. After earning her bachelors degree in engineering at Cornell University, she moved to Houston where she began an 18 year career working for NASA. Brienne is proud of the work she did there for the International Space Station Program, managing life support systems, negotiating international partnerships, and helping researchers conduct experiments in the orbiting laboratory. Not everyone can say they’ve made space toilet bowls, or put mice on the space station, but she’s proud to have been a part of both! As inspiring as that workplace was, Brienne decided to leave NASA when her son was born, choosing to be a stay at home mom for her two kids. Motherhood has been an amazing adventure, and she has used her time with her kids to deep dive into Houston. Together they’ve made missions out of finding fountains, investigating parks, playgrounds, and splash pads all around town, and of course, seeking out the best ice cream. When she’s not shuttling her kids around, Brienne is usually cooking (or finding new recipes to cook!), feeding the sourdough, researching new parts of Houston to explore, or planning the next family vacation. She loves traveling, eating good food, and most of all, the sound of her kids laughing as they embark on a new experience.
