Must-Have Items for Your Baby Registry

As a rule of thumb, I avoid receiving gifts like the plague. Every holiday season I drive my loved ones nuts with the classic “I don’t need anything”. I’m not a big birthday person and always opt for no gifts. But with that, there are still certain times in life it can get really tricky. My husband and I are expecting baby number two and with that, I was really looking forward to not having to make a baby registry this time around. Our family and friends were so insistent on us having one and a big part of me wanted to just tell them “absolutely not”. However, I decided to take my emotions out of the equation and look at the situation logically. It’s so genuinely kind of them to want to get us and our baby anything. If they are going to buy us things, it is nice for them to have a list of ideas. So here is a short and sweet list of some essential items for your baby registry:

Feeding Supplies

Yes, you already may have some, but let’s start fresh with baby number two. All of our baby bottles were donated and whats left of sippy cups and feeding supplies have seen much better days. I recommend bottles and a bottle sanitizer. Also if you are nursing, new supplies for that is great too!

Transportation Items

My first son will just be shy of turning four when our new baby is here. and like many second or third time parents, we are going to be on the go. I recommend registering for a double stroller for a wagon. An infant car seat and an extra base or two is a great thing to add. Also a comfortable baby carrier is a must! I love wrap carriers.

Sleeping Essentials for New Baby

Think new crib or bassinet, black out curtains and a great sound machine. The first time around I put the cheapest sound machine I could find on my registry thinking I would hardly use it. Spoiler alert, we used it every single day and it broke after just one month, so pick a good one. I also recommend a travel sound machine!

New Baby Monitor or Camera

There are so so many types of baby monitors out there in the world. With our first son we opted for a wifi monitor and while it was great for the time we opted to for for a split screen monitor that does not rely on wifi. A lot of monitors have the option of purchasing additional cameras and making yours a split screen.

Bathing

Yes, think obvious items here like an infant bath, soaps, lotions, infant towels etc. However I would also sneak into this category some sort of baby lounger. Sounds odd but nothing is more terrifying than a slippery baby and having a safe cozy and warm spot for them right next to the sink/tub is a great solution!
