6 Ways to Celebrate the Ladies in Your Life This Galentine’s Day

Galentine’s day is coming up! For those of you not familiar, Galentine’s day is February 13th, the day before Valentine’s Day. I love this holiday because one, it is a great excuse to celebrate all the fabulous ladies in my life, and two, its origin story is from Parks and Recreation, one of my favorite TV shows. Fake TV holiday turned real-life holiday? Yes, please. Ready to jump on the Galentine’s Day bandwagon and participate in ladies celebrating ladies? Here are some easy ways to kick it with your lady friends this Galentine’s.

Tell all of your poetic and noble land mermaids how awesome they are with a little love note. Target carries actual Galentine’s day cards, or you can just pull out a piece of paper and write them a letter telling them what you love most about them. Or go really old school and raid your kid’s art supplies to make your own card. I know you have those bubble letter skills tucked away just waiting to be shown off.

Gift Them Something From a Female Owned Business

Celebrate and uplift multiple ladies by gifting them something from a female owned business. Decided to do a card? Try one from Em & Friends. Candle? PettyCandleCo is a Texas based, Black woman owned company selling “scented candles with snark” perfect for your lady friend who always has something witty to say. Food? Search for female owned bakeries or restaurants to order from. Speaking of food…..

Treat Your Galentine With Some Treats

Got a coffee lover? Send that brillant powerful musk of a Starbucks e-gift card. Does your bestie have a sweet tooth? Have some Tiff’s Treats cookies delivered to their work or home, or take them on a friend date to your local bakery. Or go big and have dinner delivered to their home. Food they love plus not having to worry about what’s for dinner? Double win.

Butter Up Your Book Lover

Send them a copy of a book you know they will love. Go to the library together and make recommendations or sit and read in silence. Make a mini book club and read a book at the same time. Or visit your local bookstore together. Houston’s Brazos Bookstore is hosting a Galentine’s day celebration on February 13th that you can grab your group of perfect sunflowers and hit up for some books and bubbly.

Make a Donation to a Cause in Their Honor

Pick a cause you know is dear to your friend’s heart and celebrate that glowing sun goddess by donating to it in their name. Bonus points if it is woman focused. Pretty much any cause has an organization you can donate to. Go local and give to the Houston Area Women’s Center. Or give to one that does a variety of things, like Together Rising, founded by all around badass lady Glennon Doyle.

Spend Time Together, Near or Far

Invite all of your beautiful, tropical fish to a breakfast or brunch. Have pizza movie night at your house. Go to coffee with a friend or sister. Or if you are long distance, have a phone date or sync up a great gal movie like Legally Blonde or Pitch Perfect and watch it together. Galentine’s is all about celebrating ladies in your life, and what better way to do that than connect with them however you can?

Happy Galentine’s Day!
