{RECAP} Spring EGGstravaganza

Please Note :: Our first ever Spring EGGstravaganza was sponsored by an amazing group of community partners – without which, this event would certainly not have been possible. We cannot say enough how thankful we are that The Village School welcomed us onto their campus and truly linked arms with us to host this event, and each of our sponsors were so gracious in helping us plan and meticulously execute every detail.  Even when faced with extreme wind and flying decorations, they supported us and worked their hardest to ensure the event was a raving success for all of the families in attendance.  We will forever be grateful.

Before we dive right into the event recap, can we just take a quick minute to give a special thanks to our amazingly talented event photographers?  These ladies went above and beyond, capturing the event to the fullest and snapping oodles of precious pictures.  In case you missed our announcement over on the Facebook event group, we strongly encourage you to head straight to their event links to see ALL of the photos.  Oh, and keep them in mind next time you are looking to schedule photographs too!

Ya’ll.  We may be partial, but our Spring EGGstravaganza was fantastic, largely in part to our amazing co-title sponsors at The Village School!  As soon as you arrived at the event, you couldn’t help but notice The Village School’s immaculate campus with freshly cut grass, a lovely courtyard, and modern buildings and amenities.  It was perfect for a Sunday afternoon egg hunt!  And as an added bonus, it was such a joy to have some of their students volunteering for the event.  By the end of the evening, it became clear why The Village School is such a well-known private school, with options running from preschool through 12th grade — they are building exceptional and bright young leaders!

Of course, no family-friendly event is complete without a variety of games and activities for the kiddos!  In addition to the FOUR different egg hunts which were definitely the star of the show, we also had an Easter Bunny waltzing around, two bounce houses, a spring photo opp and picture keepsake, and a balloon artist.  And as if that wasn’t enough, our dear friends from Baby Boot Camp were on hand with a sweet little craft station and Northcutt Travel Agency had an overflowing table with treats and temporary tattoos.  The smiles were evidence that the kiddos loved every.single.minute. of this event!

All of that play certainly worked up an appetite, and we were thrilled to offer snacks and light bites for our Spring EGGstravganza attendees!  Shipley-Do Nuts was there with their mouth-watering donuts, Borden Milk was on hand with drinks to wash it down, Reginelli’s Pizzaeria was passing out pizza by the slice, and Costco had water bottles and snacks to top it all off.  Our mouths are watering just thinking about how delicious the food was there!

As with all of our major events, we feature a local charity in an effort to drive awareness, collect items to help fulfill current needs, and leave an impact in our community.  For our Spring EGGstravaganza, we were honored to feature Avondale House – a local agency who recognizes each individual with autism has unique strengths and needs and utilizes various training strategies to support their different learning styles.  Thank you, thank you, thank you to those of you who brought donations off their wish list.  They were absolutely in awe of your generosity!

Kelly is the founder of Houston Moms Blog and has lived in this beautiful city nearly all of her life. She has a degree in education from Texas State University and was honored to teach special education for eight years to some of the cutest little kiddos you could ever meet. While teaching, Kelly met Cody – a tall drink of water and country boy to the core – and together, they fell in love, got married, and decided to start a family. In March 2011, they welcomed Hayes into the world, a silly but smart little boy with a story you have to read to believe. And in April 2013, their family was complete with the addition of Hadley, a super gregarious and oh-so-cute baby girl. Now, Kelly devotes her days to caring for her own little ones…and would not trade this new job of hers for the world! In her not-so-spare time, Kelly loves meeting up with her girlfriends for margaritas, failing miserably at Pinterest projects, and exploring this big old city with her two favorite little side-kicks in tow.
